BackgroundSt Michael’s
OutsideWe encourage the children to enjoy our outdoor area - which with a new canopy we are able to use for most of the year. This is a safe and delightful area where the children can enjoy fresh air in a beautiful setting, we also have a vegetable garden where the children can plant and watch things grow. Educationalists believe outdoor activity to have a very beneficial effect on children’s learning and we like to ensure that most days will have a time outside.
EquipmentWe endeavour to keep our equipment attractive and up to date offering facilities for children to read, play in imaginative settings, dress up, ride on vehicles as well as the outdoor equipment including a climbing frame, garden play house, slide etc.
ParticipationWe do encourage parents to work with staff and some choose to serve as volunteers. We like to keep the door open for parents to talk with staff about their children on a regular basis. We arrange special days when parents can meet with the staff, and hold ‘open’ days and ‘fun’ days. We do from time to time seek feedback from parents through questionnaires so that we can go on improving what we offer.
AccreditationWe believe in constantly reflecting on the work we do at the pre school and are committed to a path of Accreditation with the Pre School Learning Alliance. This involves staff constantly reflecting on the work with the children and looking for ways of improving all that we do. We hope to move to full accreditation in the next year - something few preschools attain.
PoliciesIn order to ensure the best environment for staff and children we have a number of policies to ensure safety, fairness, hygiene and personal development. These can be accessed through the Office. Policies and are reviewed regularly by the staff and the management committee.
